The City of Gaithersburg joined forces with Pepco, WSSC and Washington Gas in the rehabilitation project for the storm victims. Most tenants in the Flowers Apartments are now returning to the complex after temporarily staying at the hotel while their buildings are renovated and the utility services are restored.
Payment for hotel expenses came from community donations. Although this is only available in the first building, the other building in the complex is still in the restoration process and the City of Gaithersburg said that they will continue to help the occupants of the other building.
